Overview

Ready to dive headlong into the festival circuit? From surprise performers and thrilling shows to extreme weather and counterfeit tickets, every game of Festi'vibes offers up an unforgettable adventure. Each player has their own special story to create — so be sure to choose the festivals that will give you the best vibes!

Players take the role of festivalgoers, using their Ticket cards to choose three festivals to attend out of six. The six Festival cards are laid out across the table, and players take turns playing Event cards to build out each column. Every Event card features a music note with a positive or negative value. The winner is the player with the highest score once all six columns are complete.

Components

  • 6 Festival cards — they head the columns. Each card has a number from 2 to 5: the maximum number of Event cards its column can hold. The back shows its "Sold out" side.
  • 26 Event cards — positive and negative experiences familiar to every festivalgoer: Free food, Wellness workshop, Immersive experience, VIP access, Artist delayed, High prices, Crowd rush, Storms, Fake ticket… Some also carry a special effect.
  • 12 Ticket cards — they let players "attend" their chosen festivals and earn the associated points.
  • 8 Help cards.

Setup

  1. Lay the 6 Festival cards out on the table: each one heads a column.
  2. Carefully shuffle the Event cards.
  3. Each player receives three Event cards, kept in hand.
  4. Place the rest of the Event cards in the middle of the table as the draw pile.
  5. Each player chooses a colour and receives three Ticket cards of that colour, placed in front of them.
  6. The last person to have gone to a real-life festival goes first! Players then take turns, going clockwise.

How to play

On your turn, you make one of the following two moves: play an Event card from your hand into a column, or play a Ticket card at the top of a column.

Play an Event card

Choose an Event card from your hand and place it in any column with room left. The number on the Festival card indicates the maximum number of Event cards it can hold.

Once a column is full, no further Event cards can be played in it — unless allowed by a special effect — and the Festival card is flipped to its "Sold out" side. After playing, draw so you always have three cards in hand.

Example — a Festival 2 column holding one Event card still has one spot left. Another Festival 2 column already holding two cards is full.

Play a Ticket card

Play one of your Ticket cards at the top of the column of your choice. Ticket cards always go at the top.

There can be no more than two Ticket cards per column, whatever the colour. You cannot replace another player's Ticket card with your own, unless allowed by a special effect. However, a special effect can let you move one of your own Ticket cards from one column to another, if there is space.

You do not have to play all three of your Ticket cards. Once played, however, they must remain in play.

Event card value

from -5 to +5

Each Event card features a music note, with either a negative value (red) or a positive value (green).

Using special effects

immediately, as the card is played

Some Event cards have special effects, used as soon as the card is placed. The effect does not apply to the card carrying it, but to the rest of the column. If it cannot be used, the card is simply played like any other Event card.

Swap two Ticket cards between columns

Swap one Ticket card from this column, yours or an opponent's, with a Ticket card from another column, whether it belongs to you or not.

Swap your Ticket with an opponent's

Swap one of your Ticket cards from this column with another player's Ticket card from another column.

Replace an opponent's Ticket card

-2 points off their final score

Replace another player's Ticket card in this column with one of your own that has not yet been played. The removed Ticket card goes to an open spot chosen by that player. If it was their last card played, two points are taken off their final score.

Swap two Event cards

Place this card in the column of your choice, then swap another Event card from that column with one from a different column.

Discard a card from the column

Place this card in the column of your choice, then discard and remove from play one card from that column.

One extra space in the column

+1 Event card

This card increases the Event card limit by one in the column where it is played, for as long as it stays there.

Swap with a card from your hand

Place this card in the column of your choice, then swap an Event card from that column with one from your hand.

End of the game

Once all six columns are full, the game is over. Add up the points in each column, starting with the smallest: add the positive music notes and subtract the negative ones.

One Ticket at the top of a column — that player receives the full points from the column.
Two Tickets from the same player — their score for that column is multiplied by two.
Two players with one Ticket each — both receive the full amount of points.
Final total — each player adds the points from their Tickets. The highest total wins.

Example — the six columns are worth +2, +3, +4, +1, +2 and 0. A player on +2, +4 and 0 scores 6; another on +2, +3 and 0 scores 5; a third on +3, +1 and +1 also scores 5; the last, on +4, +2 and +2, scores 8 and wins.

Variant

Two-player game

5 Festival cards: 2 / 3 / 3 / 4 / 5

A two-player game uses 5 Festival cards: one Festival 2, two Festival 3, one Festival 4 and one Festival 5.

At the start of the game, one Ticket card is placed on the Festival 2 card and on each Festival 3 card, blocking certain spaces. These Ticket cards count as opposing cards and can be moved using Event card effects.
